John F. MacArthur
Mr. MacArthur is a lifetime resident of Mount Clemens, Michigan, the capital of Macomb County. He graduated from Mount Clemens High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kalamazoo College. Mr. MacArthur received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Detroit and his Master of Laws in Taxation degree from Wayne State University in 1987. Mr. MacArthur focuses his practice in the areas of wills, trusts, estate planning, elder law and Medicaid planning, taxation, non-profit corporations, business law and real estate. In addition he is a certified mediator and handles a variety of alternate dispute resolution matters in many area courts. Mr. MacArthur is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and is also admitted to practice in Indiana.
Additional memberships include the Macomb County Bar Association, Financial and Estate Planning Council of Macomb, Financial and Estate Planning Council of Metropolitan Detroit, and Macomb County Probate Bar Association. Mr. MacArthur is rated “AV-Preeminent” (the highest rating) by the Martindale-Hubbell peer rating service by members of the bar and judiciary and was selected as a “Top Lawyer” in the areas of Estate Planning and Taxation in 2010 by the Detroit Business Magazine of Metropolitan Detroit. Also selected as a 2013 Michigan Top Lawyer by the Legal Network. Also selected as a 2016 Michigan Top Lawyer by the Legal Network and a 2016 recipient of a Five Star Investment Professional award. Mr. MacArthur was selected for inclusion in the Lawyers of Distinction listing in 2018.
Mrs. Burcar has received a certificate in General/Civil Mediation and a certificate for completing the ICLE Probate & Estate Planning Certificate Program. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Macomb County Bar Association, Women Lawyers Association of Michigan, Association for Conflict Resolution, and the Financial and Estate Planning Council of Macomb.
Kristen M. Bedient
Ms. Bedient concentrates her practice in Estate Planning, Probate, and Trust Administration. Prior to starting at NHMB, Ms. Bedient managed an estate planning office, drafting individualized estate plans tailored to the specific needs of each client and assisted clients with all aspects of probate proceedings.

Ms. Bedient is passionate about ensuring that her clients have a plan that encompasses decisions during their lifetime and upon their death, as well as ensuring that parents have guardian/conservatorship designations in place for their children. She is continually educating the community on estate planning matters and also attending continuing education seminars to provide the most up-to-date planning techniques. When she is not working, Ms. Bedient enjoys spending time with her family, running, and baking.

Mr. Hirt then attended the University of Michigan Law School where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 1959. After briefly working for his father’s former firm, he joined the Nunneley firm in 1960. Mr. Hirt is Of Counsel to the firm at the present time.
